If your Matic robot is unexpectedly bumping into furniture or other objects, it may be due to factors such as camera visibility, environmental changes, or calibration needs.
Step 1: Clean Matic's Cameras
Over time, dust or smudges can accumulate on Matic's cameras, affecting its ability to detect obstacles accurately. We recommend gently wiping all five cameras with a microfiber cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the camera lenses.
Step 2: Set No-Go Areas
If Matic is frequently coming into contact with delicate items such as vases, statues, or fragile furniture, you can create No-Go Areas to instruct it to avoid those spaces.
How to add No-Go Areas:
- Open the Matic App and navigate to the Map tab
- Tap Edit No-Go Areas under Edit My Map
- Select the pencil icon in the top right corner
- Draw around the area you want Matic to avoid
- Click Add No-Go Area
To remove a no-go area, simply tap on it.
No-Go Areas can be temporary or permanent. You can also set a temporary no-go area if you have some toys on the ground or a big spill, and then delete the no-go area afterwards.
Step 3: Camera Calibration Check
If you've cleaned the cameras and set up No-Go Areas but Matic continues to bump into objects, there may be a calibration issue with its vision system. In rare cases, Matic may require servicing to recalibrate the cameras for optimal performance.
