Side Brush Malfunction error
This error is usually caused by debris caught in the side brush, the brush catching on a misidentified carpet edge, or a motor fault. Follow the steps below to identify the cause.
1. Check for debris
Remove the side brush and check for hair, string, or debris wrapped around the base or bristles. Clean it thoroughly and reattach it until it clicks.
2. Check your floor types
If the error returns, Matic may be catching the side brush on a carpet edge it hasn't correctly identified.
- Open the app and go to Edit Map > Edit Floor Types
- Check whether any carpets appear smaller on the map than they are in real life
- If anything looks off, correct it manually
3. Test without the side brush
If the error persists after checking debris and floor types, the motor may be faulty. You can confirm this by running Matic without the side brush attached:
- Remove the side brush
- From the Home page, go to Custom Clean > Draw Area
- Draw a small area near a wall — close enough that Matic would normally engage the side brush
- Select Vacuum and let Matic run
If the malfunction error appears again without the side brush attached, the motor needs to be repaired. Reach out to support and we'll arrange next steps.
