How to replace mop wedge

If your mop wedge is damaged, worn, or peeling, this guide will walk you through how to replace it.

Overview

Common signs that your wedge needs replacing include the rubber wiper strip deteriorating or tearing, the felt strip peeling off, or the small roller wheel on the wedge being flattened or missing.

Contact support first with a photo of the your wedge and they can confirm if you need a replacement and send you the wedge and allen key

What you'll need

  • Replacement mop wedge
  • Allen key

Steps

  1. Remove the water tank and HEPA bag — open Matic's lid and take both out before getting started.
  2. Remove the mop roll — pull out the mop roll and set it aside.
  3. Turn Matic on its side — lay it so you have clear access to the underside where the wedge is located.
  4. Unscrew the old wedge — using the Allen key, remove the screws starting from the outside screws first, then the inside screws. Lift the old wedge out.
  5. Install the new wedge — place the new wedge with the felt side facing the brush roll. Align it to the fitting holes and seat it fully.
  6. Screw it in — start with the outside screws first, then the inside screws. Don't overtighten.
  7. Make sure Matic is straight — check that the wedge is evenly seated and Matic sits flat.
  8. Reinstall everything — put the mop roll back in, then the water tank and HEPA bag.
  9. Run a short cleaning session to confirm everything is working correctly.

FAQs

What does the wedge do?

The wedge sits between the mop roll and the brush roll area. It has a rubber wiper strip that guides dirty water toward the wringer, and a felt strip that helps with water distribution during mopping. A damaged wedge can cause water dripping on the floor.

Where do I get a replacement wedge?

Replacement wedges are not currently available in the Matic shop. Contact support and we'll send one out to you.

Can I still use Matic while waiting for a replacement wedge?

Vacuuming will work fine. For mopping, a damaged wedge can leave water on the floor, so we'd recommend pausing mopping until your replacement arrives.
