How to Prepare Your Matic for Storage

If you are going away and not planning to use Matic for a prolonged period of time, follow this guide to prepare your robot for storage.

If you are not planning to use your Matic for a while, we recommend the following:

  • Run a short mop cycle over about 100 square feet of clean floor. This helps purge the internal tubes.

  • Once that’s done:

    • Remove the brushroll, mop roll, HEPA bag and the water tank

    • Clean out the wringer and remove any hair from the sweeper driver

  • Put the robot in "shipment mode" (Settings > Prepare for Shipment > Prepare for Repair Shipment)

At that point, Matic is ready for deep storage.

 

For better battery health, we also recommend:

  • Discharging the battery to 40-50%

  • Powering Matic off completely (via the power button or the app)

  • Unplugging the dock (otherwise Matic will continue to charge even when it appears to be off)

  • Storing Matic in a cool, dry place

 

One last note: while Matic is powered off, it won’t receive regular software updates. That’s completely fine, and we’ll make sure it can update successfully once you power it back on.
